<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a videophone terminal with which a user can transmit his/her emotions or impressions to an opposite party so that the opposite party easily understand. <P>SOLUTION: When the user performs a predetermined operation using a keyboard 115 or an audio processing section 109 identifies a predetermined keyword in the speech given by the user, a video image formed by making a change for a virtual character or a completely different video image is formed. To make a change for the virtual character is to change the size of each part forming the face or the whole face of the virtual character, to add a pattern expressing emotions such as to put a vertical line to the eyes of the virtual character or to make the cheek pink. Also, when a pending mode is released, the virtual character is appears again on the screen while a melody is reproduced.
