<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus, an image processing method, and a program for flexibly carrying out processing without being limited by an apparatus configuration and processing contents. <P>SOLUTION: An instruction sheet interpretation section 210 in the image processing apparatus 61 interprets an instruction sheet, a processing resource estimate section 232 predicts an execution resource required for carrying out the service processing described in the instruction sheet, a processing resource detection section 228 detects an execution resource actually available, a discrimination section 234 compares the resources and discriminates whether or not the processing is available on the basis of a result of the comparison. When the service is a processable service, the image processing apparatus executes the service without any modification according to the instruction sheet, and when the service is not a processable service, the image processing apparatus executes counter-processing to disabled processing consecution such as interruption of the processing and notice to a user.
