<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter member improved in durability by providing a metal coating such as nickel plating in a surface of the inorganic fibers to prevent reaction of the inorganic fibers with the catalyst, and preventing degradation and fragileness of the inorganic fibers and inactivation of the catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: This filter member 20 used for an exhaust emission control device 40 for purifying the granular material in an engine is formed by laminating fiber bodies 10 having the inorganic fiber 11, the metal coating 12 for covering a surface of the inorganic fiber 11, and the catalysts 14 and 15 carried on a surface of the metal coating 12. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
