<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent crosstalk by improving the separation of the light of a light source for the left eye and for the right eye. <P>SOLUTION: The image display device is equipped with a first polarizing filter 146a, a second polarizing filter 246b, and an optical means 228 for refracting the light transmitted through the one polarizing filter to a direction where the light arrives at the left eye of an observer and the light transmitted through the other polarizing filter in a direction where the light arrives at the right eye of the observer and irradiating a liquid crystal display panel 232 with the light. The image display device is compartmentalized and constituted the light source to a first light source group 243b to transmit the light to the first polarizing filter 246a and a second light source group 246b to transmit the light to the second polarizing filter 246b and is provided with a light shielding section for preventing the transmission of the light between the optical path from the first light source group 243a to the first polarizing filter 246a and the optical path from the second light source group 243a to the second polarizing filter 246b. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
