METHOD FOR PRODUCING STRETCHABLE PAPER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stretchable paper suppressing occurrence of both of the crease and the breakage of paper in contracting treatment and high longitudinal and transverse stretchability. SOLUTION: The method for producing the stretchable paper comprises passing a paper sheet 1B in which basis weight is within the range of 50g/m2to 450g/m2and water content in paper is within the range of 20% to 50% and wet paper strength in paper-making direction in the water content range is≥0.3 kN/m through a shrinkage-imparting apparatus 3 equipped with a pair of press roll 8 composed of a hard roll 6 in which a groove 5 which parallels in peripheral direction to peripheral surface of a roll is provided at prescribed interval in a roll width direction and a soft roll 7 in which peripheral surface of roll is flat and constituted so as to roll the hard roll 6 and the soft roll 7 so that the peripheral speed of the soft roll 7 becomes slower than that of the hard roll 6 under pressure to impart shrinkage to the paper sheet 1B and then drying the paper.
