PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt fixing device which can form a broad fixing nip having almost flat pressure distribution in a paper feeding direction. SOLUTION: The belt fixing device is provided with a nip forming member 20 which is fixedly arranged inside a fixing belt 12 of an endless sheet shape to be heated so as to be incapable of rotating and a rotary pressure roller 50 which is brought into contact with the nip forming member 20 by pressing while holding the fixing belt 12 therebetween. A contacting part of the fixing belt 12 and the pressure roller 50 forms the fixing nip 40. A surface 22 of the nip forming member 20 facing the pressure roller 50 is made to be a curved surface along an outer peripheral surface of the pressure roller 50 so that pressure distribution in the fixing nip 40 is almost flat in the paper feeding direction.
