Control system (A) for merchandise (M) comprising: (a) many different molecular information carriers (B), fastened to (M) in some way; and (b) an analytical/evaluation device (C) that can recognize (B) and assign unequivocal data records, is new. Independent claims are also included for: (1) molecular information carriers (B1) that comprise many linear polymers of nucleotides; and (2) labeling (M) by contacting it, immediately after its preparation and/or supply, with one or more B1.
