<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide, at first, a coloring composition comprising a new compound and providing a high-density neutral black color, and an inkjet recording liquid exhibiting good light resistance and excellent reproducibility of the color, to provide, at second, a water-based inkjet recording liquid having excellent preservation stability in addition to the first, to provide, at third, an inkjet recording method by using the inkjet recording liquid, and to provide, at fourth, a highly sensitive heat-sensitive transfer recording material exhibiting high density even by a small applied energy, and having excellent image fastness such as light fastness. <P>SOLUTION: The compound is represented by general formula [1].
