<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the image forming apparatus and the display method of an operation section capable of easily understanding a layer being set at the time of function setting with improved operability of the function setting. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 100 includes a main unit controller 30 and a touch panel 40. A plurality of function selection buttons for selecting an image forming function is displayed on a display unit 40a. When function selection buttons displayed on the display unit 40a are selected, a pop-up screen corresponding to the selected function selection button is displayed on a predetermined position of the display unit 40a. When the pop-up screens are displayed successively in a multiple form, a pop-up screen to be subsequently displayed is displayed in a position shifted from the display frame of the previously displayed pop-up screen for a predetermined distance.
