<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract the speed variation of a transfer belt caused by the uneven thickness of the transfer belt in an image forming apparatus where different color toner images formed on a plurality of image carriers are superposed and transferred to the transfer belt and the composited toner image is transferred to a recording medium so as to obtain a recorded image. <P>SOLUTION: Assuming that N is an integer ≥1, a pattern toner image is formed on the image carrier 2Y at the interval of 1/N of the peripheral length of the image carrier 2Y, transferred over the entire length of the transfer belt 3, and also detected by a positional deviation detection sensor 25 so as to obtain positional deviation data, then the moving average of N positional deviation data is calculated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
