PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interface circuit for process connections. SOLUTION: A programmable universal interface circuit comprises a plurality of controllable switches 17, 40, 38, 43, 39, a plurality of controllable multiplexers 12, 22, 11, 21, at least one of analog/digital converters 13, 14, 23, 24, and at least one of digital/analog converters 19, 29. These components can be activated, deactivated or changed into other operating or switching states, depending on the state of signals K1 to K11 so that different functions are assigned to one or more bidirectionality input connection pins A to D. Thus, each of the input connection pins A to D can have a plurality of digital or analog functions for bidirectional exchange of data, measurement values, control signals or the like between a computer and technical processing equipment.
