PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress wear and tear of a contact by a bouncing phenomenon of a movable contact caused by an impact when a movable iron core is attracted to a stationary iron core. SOLUTION: In this electromagnetic contactor wherein if an operating electromagnet 1 is energized, the movable iron core 3 is attracted to the stationary iron core 2 facing it, and the movable contact 7 held by a contact support 6 connected to the movable iron core moves integrally with the movable iron core 3 to bridge between a pair of fixed contacts 9 for each phase, the contact-making surface of the movable contact 7 and the fixed contact 9 is formed in parallel with the attracting direction of the movable iron core 3, and the cylindrically formed movable contact 7 is brought into rolling contact with the stationary contact 11 of the fixed contact 9. Thereby, the movable contact 7 interlocking with the movable iron core 3 moves parallel to the contact-making surface of the movable contact 7 and the fixed contact 9, and the bouncing phenomenon caused if the movable contact 7 jumps in relation to the fixed contact 9 is suppressed.
