PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably producing a conjugated diene polymer by adjusting its molecular weight without using an aromatic solvent. SOLUTION: The method for producing a conjugated diene polymer comprises polymerizing a conjugated diene compound by using a catalyst obtained from (A) a cobalt compound, (B) an organometallic compound of a group 13 element of the periodic table, and (C) water. In the production method, an inert organic solvent is brought into contact with an acyclic olefin in advance to adjust the concentration of the acyclic olefin by vapor/liquid equilibrium; then, the resultant acyclic-olefin-containing inert organic solvent is added to a polymerization vessel to adjust the molecular weight of the conjugated diene polymer.
