PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary damper having high damping force without causing the leakage of operating oil from a bearing supporting a shaft. SOLUTION: The rotary damper generates damping force with the operating oil circulated between two oil chambers during oscillation of a vane 75 partitioning an oil chamber in a housing 52 into two oil chambers. It has the shaft 53 for oscillatably supporting the vane on the housing while connecting thereto a base portion 75a of the vane in a fixed state. Sealing washers 77a, 77b for partitioning bearings 71a, 72a turnably supporting the shaft on the housing from the oil chambers in oil sealing relation are provided on the base portion of the vane, preventing the leakage of the operating oil in the oil chambers from the bearing.
