PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water treatment method and a water treatment apparatus each of which is adapted so that it may perform automatic follow-up and automatic control of the frequency and amplitude of ultrasonic waves so as for the ultrasonic waves to produce the most suitable cavitation. SOLUTION: The water treatment apparatus comprises a sensor 312 that senses the amplitudes of oscillators 330 and 331, a frequency sensing block 328 that senses the frequencies of signals applied to the oscillators, an amplitude control unit 317 that controls the amplitudes of the oscillators according to the sensed amplitudes of the oscillators so as for the amplitudes to be set at target values, and a frequency control unit 308 that controls the frequencies of the oscillators according to the frequencies of the sensed signals so as for the frequencies to be set at the target values. The target vibration frequency of the oscillators is the resonance frequency of a vibration system including the oscillators which varies with a water temperature, a flow rate, an impurity, and the situation of cavitation generation. The frequency sensing part comprises an electric current sensor 303 that senses the phase of an electric current in relation to the signal voltage applied to the oscillators.
