The band forms a supply loop which is on a movable cart. The loop is fixed around a roller. The car moves along a path. One roller element supports a metal band and as the band is moved, the cart is moved. The supporting rollers are moved out of the way when the cart arrives acting as a gate and move back into position when the cart has passed.
