The soil processing method of the invention comprises the steps of slipping a microwave radiator into soil and then radiating microwaves to the soil that becomes a processing subject from the microwave radiator. In this case, methods for slipping the microwave radiator into soil that may be employed include one for slipping a submarining body containing a microwave radiator while driving a farm implement by a submarining pawl mechanism similar to a chisel or subsoil, another for vertically thrusting it into or pulling it out of soil by a power arm, and another for vertically thrusting it into or pulling it out of soil by utilizing various vertical excavating devices. According to the invention, it is possible to effectively apply the influence of microwaves to the soil in a deep region that can hardly be influenced by microwave radiation directed to the surface of a paddy field. Thereby, it is possible to expect various agriculturally useful influences, for example, plant growth adjustment, germinal time adjustment, soil disinfection, and soil improvement.
