A cover (1) for use with a food tray (9) or dish, which cover (1) comprises an outer wall (2) for surrounding the tray (9) or dish and an inwardly protruding flange (3) arranged at a height of the outer wall (2) that exceeds a height of the tray (9) or dish and is adapted to cover an upper edge (12) of the tray (9) or dish when the cover (1) is arranged over the tray (9) or dish. An edge (4) of the flange (3) defines an opening (5) provided in the cover (1).
