FLAME RETARDANT EPOXY RESIN COMPOSITIONS, PREPREGS AND METAL-CLAD LAMINATES

An aromatic fused phosphate flame retardant represented by the following general formula (a): wherein R1 to R8 are the same or different and each represents C1-3 alkyl; (b) a halogen-free epoxy resin having at least two epoxy groups per molecule; (c) a halogen-free resin hardener; and (d) a non-halogenous flame retardant epoxy resin composition containing a metal hydroxide. This epoxy resin composition has a dielectric constant comparable to the conventional halogen-containing flame retardant printed wire board materials and yet shows excellent flame retardancy.
