<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of forming a precise refractive index distribution form and improving productivity in the production of a preform for a dispersion shifted optical fiber or a dispersion compensating optical fiber having a core comprising a center part, an inner cladding, a ring and an outer cladding. <P>SOLUTION: In an FCVD method for producing the preform by depositing layers, the layers of the preform corresponding to the inner cladding and the ring of the optical fiber have≤0.1 wt.% phosphorus content. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
