PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system which can perform exact light control according to the characteristics of an illumination object and a projector. SOLUTION: The lighting system 20 is so constituted that a controller 50 of a projector 10 nonuniformly lights or puts out diode chips PC 11 to PC 33 being light emitting sections so as to correspond to the irradiation response characteristics, i.e. visual angle characteristics of respective liquid crystal valves 31, 33 and 35 dependent upon the incident angle of lights for illumination in controlling the quantities of the lights for illumination emitted from the respective lighting systems 21, 23 and 25. As a result, the illumination to optimally utilize the respective liquid crystal valves 31, 33 and 35 can be performed according to the characteristics of the liquid crystal valves 31, 33 and 35.
