PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately evaluate friction characteristics (friction coefficient and slip load) between a rotating body and a belt body, such as a photoreceptor drum and a transfer belt, of a copying machine or a printer. SOLUTION: The belt body 2, being kept in contact with the rotating body 1, is held by a belt-body holding part 3. The rotating body 1 is rotatively driven by a rotating-body drive part 4. A tight-side load of the belt body 2 is measured via the holding part 3 by a belt tight-side tensile load measurement part 5. A loose-side load of the belt body 2 is detected via the holding part 3 by a belt loose-side tensile load measurement part 6. A rotating-body friction evaluation part 11, such as a microcomputer, calculates a friction coefficient and a slip load based on the tight-side load, the loose-side load, and an evaluation expression. The setting of a contact angle of the rotating body 1 with the belt body 2 is facilitated by allowing the measurement parts 5 and 6 to make vertical or turning motion. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
