摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit a greater capacity of torque while reducing local stresses on trunnions even when great axial force is applied from a thrust mechanism. SOLUTION: This toroidal continuously variable transmission comprises an input shaft, an input disk and an output disk supported mutually concentrically on the input shaft in a mutually independently rotatable manner, and a tilting shaft 7 existing at a position perpendicular to the directions of the center axes of the input disk and the output disk. It also has at least a pair of trunnions 21 tilting around the tiling shaft 7, a plurality of power rollers rotatably supported by the trunnions and held between the traction faces of the input disk and the output disk, and a safety cable bridged on the trunnions 21 for synchronizing the tilting angles of the trunnions.
