PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protection structure of a tunnel and its construction method capable of easily and surely preventing the fall of a separated fragment from an interior wall surface of the tunnel at a low cost. SOLUTION: In the protection structure 10 of the tunnel preventing the fall of the separated fragment from the interior wall surface of the tunnel, the protection structure is constituted by connecting a plurality of protection panels 20 covering the interior wall surface of the tunnel in the circumferential direction of the section of the tunnel. The protection panels 20 and 20 are connected with a connecting section 30 put on the end sections of the protection panels 20 and capable of being connected by making the panel surfaces of the adjoining protection panels 20 at an angle of degrees with the surfaces of the protection panels 20.
