PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric arc welding system, utilizing a high-capacitance AC circuit power source for operating two or more tandem electrodes of a type used for a seam welding of large metallic semi-manufactured products, by which the shift of a phase is not extended or contracted, either of hollowing or forming of molten metal between electrodes is eliminated and the pool of welding is not disturbed, . SOLUTION: The electric arc welding system uses a circuit for changing the polarity of an AC welding current with which a polarity changing signal is generated, the change in the polarity of a current is commanded at a prescribed time after generating the polarity changing signal and the prescribed time is shortened simultaneously with the short in the welding current is detected.
