PURPOSE: A device for driving an agitator for an upright vacuum cleaner is provided to enable a user to easily control the agitator with a foot. CONSTITUTION: A device for driving an agitator for an upright vacuum cleaner is composed of a motor for driving a suction fan, a driving shaft roller(29) formed at the end of the motor, a bushing(28) formed at the outer circumference of the driving shaft roller, a fixed panel(340) fixed to the vacuum cleaner, a rotary driving unit inserted into the center of the bushing and rotating on the driving shaft roller, a selection lever(320) rotating on a lever hole, a selection link(330) coupled to the selection lever, a support unit coupled to the selection link, a roller support unit, an idle roller(380), and a stopper. The idle roller is inserted into the roller support unit, and controls the transmission of power.
