LCD DRIVING METHOD, PARTICULARLY IN RELATION TO PREVENTING THE COLOR BRAKE-UP PHENOMENON

PURPOSE: An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a driving method therefor are provided to improve image quality by preventing the color brake-up phenomenon of a field-sequential type LCD panel. CONSTITUTION: An LCD panel(210) is field-sequentially driven using the first to fourth sub-frames by the 1/4 of a frame period. The LCD panel successively receives red, green and blue optical sources from a backlight(220) in the first to third frames, and displays a color image according to image information. An image processing unit(230) supplies image information to the LCD panel, detects the minimum gray level of image information, and supplies image information of the minimum gray level to the LCD panel in the fourth sub-frame. The image processing unit controls the backlight to supply a white optical source to the LCD panel.
