A video apparatus has a receiver (5) for receiving and converting an RF signal (RF) into a video signal (CVBS ; YCrCb). The video signal (CVBS ; YCrCb) is then processed (notably encoded) into an encoded digital stream (MPEG) by processing means (8 ; 10). The processing means (8 ; 10) is adjusted based on an indicator (AGC) of a characteristic of the RF signal (RF).
