The invention provides a novel chain extender which is a diamino-substituted heterocycle of formula I, and its use in the manufacture of polyurethanes (PUs), the PUs thus obtained, reactive compositions containing said chain extender, and processes for manufacturing PUs. The formula I is represented as follows: <CHEM>
