Method for driving a stepping motor and actuator using that stepping motor

The method involves supplying the windings of the stepper motor with predefined current levels for generating control and holding torques. The windings are supplied with higher current levels at lower stepper motor temperatures than for higher stepper motor temperatures. The operating and/or holding currents can be increased. The current level can be above the rated current of the motor. Independent claims are also included for the following: an actuator with a stepper motor.
