<p>The tank (2) includes a biocoenosis (association of organisms in a given zone) and an oxygen measurement instrument (4). Its signals are sent to the aerator (3) controller (5), which has a memory storing the measurements. A computer uses this data to calculate the oxygen consumption rate in the tank. This in turn, is used to determine the intervals of aeration. The aerator has blower(s) for air introduction into the tank. The biocoenosis is immobilized on a support. It is especially carried on a freely-suspended substrate (6) in the tank. A temperature measurement instrument (7) is included in the tank.
