New s-triazine derivatives with grafted salts of para-aminobenzalmalonic acid with absorption properties for UV-A and UV-B radiation which can be incorporated in cosmetic formulations for photoprotection of the skin and hair. Compounds of general formula (1); [Image] R 1, R 1' and R 1'' : Either a chromophore group corresponding to one of the formulae (2 - 8) on condition that at least one radical R 1, R' 1and R'' 1is a chromophore group (2) and no more than one is a chromophore group (3) or (ii) OH, 1 - 20C alkoxy or 1 - 20C mono- or dialkylamino(the radicals may contain one or more atoms of O, Si or siloxane groups. [Image] R 21 - 8C alkyl; n : 0, 1 or 2; A : H. alkali metal(Na or K), ammonium, 1 - 20C mono-, di or tri-ammonium, or 2 - 20C mono-di or tri-alkanolammonium; R 3and R 41 20C alkyl or alkoxy, or 2 - 20C alkene(the radicals may contain one or more atoms of O, Si or trisiloxane groups); R 5H or OH; X : O, S or NR 6; R 6H or 1 - 4C alkyl.
