Wooden handle with an inner stiffener

The outer surface of the door or window handle (1) consists of two wooden half-shells (1.1,1.2) adhered together and carved to a visually pleasing and ergonomically convenient shape. The portion extending approximately at right-angles to the axis of rotation is curved (6). A metal tube (2.3) has a square bore (2.1) which fits on a square pin in the door or window lock. A square- section rod (2) is bent into an L-shape and is inserted into the end of the tube. It fits into cutouts in the otherwise flat mating surfaces (4) of the two wooden half-shells and acts as a reinforcement.
