PURPOSE: A sewing machine is characterized by having excellent operability of a cylinder cover, impact resistance, durability and workability, increasing productivity, preventing trouble in sewing and reducing production cost. CONSTITUTION: A sewing machine comprises: a tubular cylinder bed(1) set tubular sewed material; an end of a looper shaft installed in the cylinder bed(1) in a condition protruded from an end of the cylinder bed; a cylinder cover(2) which is installed on an end of the cylinder bed(1) removably, containing an opening(16) formed a needle plate on an upper side and covering the end of the looper shaft and a looper installed on the end; one or plural cover supporting rods(3,4) installed on the end of the cylinder bed(1) prominently horizontally with the looper shaft not to interfere with the looper; a fitting part formed on an inner wall of the cylinder cover(2) and fitted to the cover supporting rods(3,4); and a fit holding device holding a condition of fitting of the cover supporting rods and the fitting part. The cover supporting rods(3,4) have length come up to an end wall of the cylinder cover or the neighborhood thereof.
