Gearbox and control method

The gearbox has a drive shaft (I) and a driven shaft (O) that are coupled via active gearbox parts (E1,Z1,Z2.S2,Z3,Z4) when a gear is engaged, whereby other gearbox parts (E2) are free. At least some of the free gearbox parts are held at a defined revolution rate. The defined revolution rate is equal to the drive shaft revolution rate and is achieved by coupling the free parts to the drive shaft. An independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a multi-step gearbox.
