Oil-in-water emulsion for topical application contains a lipophilic emulsifier and an amphiphilic polymer comprising 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid units (I) and acrylate ester units (II). Oil-in-water emulsion for topical application contains a lipophilic emulsifier and an amphiphilic polymer comprising 80-99 mole% 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid units of formula (I) and 1-20 mole% acrylate ester units of formula (II).
