444,481. Lifter-motion for spinning- machines. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd., 22, Hanover Square, London, and KINSELLA, E., and ADDY, C. W., c/o British Celanese, Ltd., Spondon, near Derby. Sept. 17, 1934, No. 26639. [Class 120 (ii)] In ring, flyer, and cap spinning-machines for twisting or doubling yarns, particularly cap frames for collecting artificial yarns continuously with production by the dry method, a cam-operated lever directly connected at one end to the longitudinally moving traverse rod is adapted to slide against a pivot at the other end, and the pivot is adjustable in the direction of the length of the lever to adjust the traverse. The invention is described as applied to a cap frame wherein the spindles are mounted in the rails as described in Specification 444,252 ; the lifter rails are operated by horizontally reciprocating rods 13, of the kind described in Specification 444,479, mounted on quadrants as described in Specification 444,480 ; and the lifter rail is balanced by means as described in Specification 444,478. The machine may be divided into two parts with a cam-operated lever at each end. The lever 35 is oscillated by a cam 38 about an adjustable pivot constituted by a rocking shoe 25 pivoted to a lever 24, which is adjustable by means of screws 29, 30 such adjustment bsing indicated by a vernier scale 34. The effect of the relative sliding of the lever and shoe 25 during normal operation is compensated by the profile of the cam. The upper end of the lever is connected by a horizontal slide and crosshead 22, 23 with the traverse rod 13. |
