PURPOSE: Provided are a composition for preventing or treating allergic diseases using black rice extract as active ingredient and its therapeutic use. The black rice extract inhibits eosinophil involvement causing allergic inflammatory reaction, and is thus useful for the prevention and treatment of allergic diseases. CONSTITUTION: The extract of black rice is characterized by containing 3,5,7-trihydroxy-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-1-benzopyrylium chloride of the formula(1) or cyanidin-3-o-beta-glucopyranoside of the formula(2). The composition for preventing or treating allergic diseases contains, as active ingredient, 3,5,7-trihydroxy-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-1-benzopyrylium chloride of the formula(1), its pharmaceutically effective salt or diploid, or cyanidin-3-O-beta-glucopyranoside of the formula(2) or its pharmaceutically effective salt.
