PURPOSE: An overwriting method in a write-once information storage medium is provided to logically overwrite predetermined information on a write once information storage medium while updating the information, thereby easily updating/reading the information. CONSTITUTION: A system receives an overwriting command for commanding new data to be overwritten in the first section of a write once information storage medium where data is already recorded. The system regards the first section as a defect area, and records the new data in the second section. The system records updated defect management information including position information of the first section and position information of the second section in the write once information storage medium.
