FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy. ^ SUBSTANCE: bismuth is removed from lead with the aid of magnesium and calcium, which are added in the form of lumps of two Mg/Ca alloys, one enriched with Mg and the other with Ca, each having liquidus temperature below 650, preferably below 600. Liquidus temperatures of the two alloys preferably differ from each other by less than 20. Especially effective refining is achieved with Ca/Mg alloy close to eutectic alloy with 16.2% calcium, for example containing from 12 to 25% calcium, and with Ca/Mg alloy containing 60 to 80% calcium. ^ EFFECT: enabled rapid removal of bismuth and regulation of Ca/Mg ratio during refining operation. ^ 7 cl, 6 ex |
