The synchronizer has a ball pusher (15) housed in a radial piercing of a mantle (7) such that a spring (17) radially moves a ball (18) towards a hub (2) when the mantle is in its rest position. Jaw clutching teeth (8, 4a) couple the mantle with a pinion (3) when the mantle occupies its engagement position. The mantle mounted on the hub moves axially between the rest and engagement positions relative to the hub.
