PURPOSE: A super heterodyne transmitter/receiver having a small number of frequency synthesizers and a method therefor are provided to quickly convert an input digital signal into an analog signal to randomly select a transmission IF, and to accord a difference between the transmission IF and an input signal frequency with a frequency separation of a carrier. CONSTITUTION: A transmitter(210) transmits a digital input signal. A receiver(220) receives an analog signal transmitted from the transmitter(210), and restores the input digital signal. A frequency synthesizer(230) generates signals related to carrier frequency signals used in the transmitter(210) and the receiver(220). A splitter(240) distributes the signals generated from the frequency synthesizer(230) to the transmitter(210) and the receiver(220).
