PURPOSE: A device and a method for searching a dictionary with a voice on the terminal are provided to remove inconvenience to carry the dictionary by adding an electronic dictionary function to a portable terminal and minimize installation of additional circuits by using a voice I/O(Input/Output) device installed to the portable terminal. CONSTITUTION: A key input part(110) inputs a selection signal. An MSM(Mobile Station Modem)(120) activates an electronic dictionary program by the selection signal, receives a voice signal, reads dictionary data by the voice signal, and converts the dictionary data into an A/V(Audio/Video) signal. A Codec(Coder/Decoder)(130) receives the voice, generates the voice signal by processing the voice, converts the voice signal received from the MSM into the voice recognizable to the user, and outputs the voice. A dictionary data memory(150) stores the dictionary data. A main memory(140) stores the electronic dictionary program. An LCD device(160) receives/displays the video signal as an image. |
