PURPOSE: A magnetic disk device and a servo signal recording method are provided to record a clock track once with an obtained head, and to reproduce the recorded clock track to measure the number of all clock bits, then to divide the number of the entire clock bits by the number of servo sectors, consequently intervals of the servo sectors are determined. CONSTITUTION: A head(103) consists of a recording conversion element for recording information on a medium(102) and a reproducing conversion element for reading the information from the medium(102). The head(103) is supported to perform a rotational motion at a pivot(105) through a head arm(104), and moves to a random radial position on the medium(102) by an actuator composed of a coil and a magnet(106a). The head(103) carries out recording/reproducing operations by being driven according to a recording/reproducing driver IC(109).
