A post hole digger for producing a hole in the ground comprising a first handle pivotally coupled to a second handle and a first blade coupled to the first handle and a second blade coupled to the second handle. The first handle and the second handle extend along a plane defined generally by a longitudinal axis of the first handle and a longitudinal axis of the second handle when the first blade and the second blade are in the op en configuration. The first blade and the second blade are generally parallel t o the plane and spaced apart from the plane when provided in the open configuration.
