PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle navigation system which retrieves a route so that the vehicle can run the route including two specified locations in the shortest period of time. SOLUTION: In the case that a vehicle has traveled between the two locations specified on an electronic road map, travel history information including: the travel time between the two locations; travel route; and travel time zone of the vehicle is created to form a database. In the case that the two locations are included in a route on which route computation is to be performed, optimum route computation is performed according to the date and time on which the vehicle is scheduled to travel by making reference to the database in the vehicle navigation system.
