PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain a sheet bundle already compiled on a compiling tray from being disorganized by a sheet newly supplied onto the compiling tray. SOLUTION: This sheet handling device is furnished with a sub-paddle 121 to hold a sheet group before a head end of the new sheet S supplied to the compiling tray 105 makes contact with the sheet group already stacked on this compiling tray 105. Additionally, the sub-paddle 121 is constituted to be separated from the sheet group stacked on the compiling tray 105 in timing before a rear end of the new sheet S drops on the compiling tray 105.
