PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate sufficiently low temperature air as required for a large aircraft while reducing a size and improving reliability. SOLUTION: This air generation unit (AGU) 10 includes a pressure air source such as an engine for supplying bleed air. First and second air circulation mechanisms (AGM) 16, 18 are fluid connected to the air source for receiving air. A heat exchanger 28 connects the ACMs 16, 18 to each other and uses a flexible damper for mechanically supporting the first and second ACMs to accommodate the heat expansion of the heat exchanger in a whole AGM operation range. It includes a primary heat exchanger 36 for cooling air from the air source. Each ACM includes a compressor 22 for receiving the air from the heat exchanger 36 to provide compressed air. The compressed air is supplied to a secondary heat exchanger 38 where it is cooled, passed through a condenser 44 and a water collector 46 for water removal, and then delivered to a first turbine 24. The turbine 24 expands dehumidified air to generate first regulated air of a first temperature, and a second turbine further expands it to generate second regulated air of a second temperature.
