PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning device of an image forming apparatus which never fails to wipe all toner since peak pressure for blade pressing needed for cleaning is always maintained. SOLUTION: A new solid lubricant 22 is loaded in the image forming apparatus. A rotary brush 21 rotates associatively with a photoreceptor 11 and grinds the trapezoidal solid lubricant 22 to coat the surface of the photoreceptor. In the beginning, the peak pressure is high and the amount of the applied solid lubricant 22 is large, but as the total use time of the image forming apparatus increases, the amount of the solid lubricant 22 applied to the surface of the photoreceptor 11 decreases. The amount of solid lubricant 22 applied to the surface of the photoreceptor 11 is adjusted according to the total rotational frequency of the photoreceptor 11 to perform control corresponding to the total rotational frequency. As the use time of the blade becomes long, the peak value of blade pressing force decreases, the coating amount of the solid lubricant decreases to increase a frictional coefficient, and the peak pressure needed for cleaning can be maintained to eliminate failure in cleaning all toner.
