PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ball stud provided with a stud shaft of high strength, and a ball having a high-precision ball surface, a method for manufacturing that, and a ball joint incorporating the ball stud. SOLUTION: This ball stud is provided with the ball comprising low carbon steel or middle carbon steel, that is carburized from the surface to the depth of 0.1-0.8 mm, and the stud shaft having thread strength of 8.8-10.9, and carbon equivalent quantity of 0.49-0.68 wt.%.
